Healthcare for Children (ages 12 and under)

The health of our children involves encouraging them to eat healthy foods, making sure they get enough exercise and sleep, and ensuring their safety. It is also important for children to get regular checkups with their healthcare provider. At Legacy, we work with families to keep children healthy.

We provide school and sports physicals in addition to regular checkups and physical examinations to help your child grow up healthy and strong. Our doctors can diagnosis and treat common childhood illnesses like earaches, sore throats, chickenpox, asthma, and skin rashes. And if your child has special health needs, our doctors can work with you and provide referrals to outside specialists.

All services are available on a sliding fee scale based on your annual income.

We also accept Medicaid, Medicare and many health insurance plans.

Immunizations prevent serious childhood illnesses and are required by Texas school districts. Immunizations offered at Legacy include:

- DTaP (Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis) - recommended at ages 4-6, before starting school
- Polio - recommended at ages 4-6, before starting school
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - recommended at ages 4-6, before starting school
- Tetanus Booster - recommended at ages 11-12, and every 10 years thereafter
- Hepatitis A - recommended at ages 1-2
- Hepatitis B - recommended at ages birth to 18 months
- Flu shots – recommended yearly for children ages 6 months and older

Additional services for children:

Eye Care: Our licensed doctors offer both optometry and ophthalmology services including comprehensive eye examinations, disease screening and diagnosis, and prescription eyewear (glasses and contact lenses).

Psychiatry and Counseling: Certified to treat both children and adolescents, Legacy's team of mental health professionals can help with a variety of emotional, relationship, and behavioral issues.

Nutritional Counseling: Children and their parents can benefit from speaking with licensed and registered dietitians about proper nutrition for growing children. The dietitians can also provide dietary recommendations for children with food allergies, weight issues or eating disorders.
