We are aware of the growing confusion around the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare. For now, what all patients should know is that health insurance plans have not yet changed, and those who have insurance will continue to receive the benefits of their individual plan. If you haven’t enrolled in a marketplace plan, you can still do so, or make changes to an existing plan, by tomorrow January 31. We encourage you to sign up at http://healthcare.gov/
There’s no question that with the election of Donald Trump, health care in America will, over time, change. The recent executive order signed by President Trump reiterates his position to repeal and replace the ACA and directs government agencies to ease, what he sees, as the financial burden of the law. This is just the first step in a long line of actions the Trump Administration and Congress will be pursing over the coming months. How Obamacare will substantively change is anyone’s guess at this point.
Our aim is to provide clarity and regular updates here as to what’s happening at the federal level and state on health policy – and how it impacts our patients.
The good news is that regardless of what politicians in Washington, D.C. do, Legacy will continue to provide health care to all who need it, regardless of their ability to pay. That’s our mission. And that won’t change.
