Ramona Colas, BSN, MSN, CNM, joined Legacy Community Health Services in February of 2012. Through a partnership with East Houston Regional Hospital/HCA, she was part of the team that started the maternity practice at Legacy’s Lyons Avenue Clinic. She earned her Bachelor of Science, graduating cum laude, from Prairie View A&M University, and then went on to receive her graduate degree from UTMB-Galveston.

Prior to joining Legacy, Colas served as a Certified Nurse Midwife at Natural Women’s Care and at Cypress OBGYN with Drs. Oanh Bui and Enyioma Muolokwu. She has also worked at Baylor College of Medicine and UTMB. Colas has delivered over 1,000 healthy babies, including complicated births such as vaginal twins and vaginal breech presentations. She has been featured in Cy-Fair Magazine for her leadership in the field of women’s health.

Colas is a member of the American College of Nurse Midwives, and has received a Certificate of Appreciation from the UT Health Science Center at Houston School of Nursing for serving as a Nurse Practitioner Preceptor. Colas enjoys playing the piano and reading in her spare time. She is the proud mother of two sons: Gerald, senior at Alfred University, NY, and Armand, a sophomore honor engineering student at UT-Austin.

Bernadette King, WHCNP-BC, joined Legacy Community Health Services in July of 1995. She earned her nursing degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 1987, and went on to receive her Master of Science degree in Nursing in Woman¹s Health in 1994 from the same institution.

Prior to joining Legacy, King worked as a Registered Nurse in many different roles in the Obstetrics and Newborns department at St. Luke¹s Episcopal Hospital. While there, she was given the Presidential Service Award. King is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and has published articles and presented at national conferences on shared governance and case management.

King enjoys football, baking, and serving at church when she’s not working.

Cornel McKenzie

Cornel McKenzie, WHNP-BC, joined Legacy Community Health Services in January of 2010. She earned her undergraduate degree in Nursing at Texas Women’s University and went on to receive her training as a Nurse Practitioner at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.

Prior to joining Legacy, McKenzie worked as a Nurse Practitioner with CHRISTUS Medical Group for 12 years. While there, she functioned as a preceptor for 3rd year medical students in their obstetrics rotation. McKenzie is a member of the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health.

McKenzie enjoys traveling and sometimes going on adventures (like taking a cross country Greyhound bus trip). She also likes learning and frequently takes ad hoc classes, the most recent of which was Stock Market 101. She is always up for a spirited Bible study.

Meghan Stork joined Legacy Community Health Services in September of 2012. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Oklahoma Panhandle State University in 1999 and a Master of Science in Nursing from The University of Texas Medical Branch in 2005.

Prior to joining Legacy, Stork worked as a Certified Nurse-Midwife at Spring Branch Medical Center and in private practice in Oklahoma. In this role, Stork had delivered more than 500 babies. She is a member of the American College of Nurse-Midwives.

In her spare time, Stork enjoys spending time with her husband and their three daughters. Stork is active in her local church: She teaches Sunday school to 2nd- 4th graders and works with the Health Ministry Team.

Faith Whittier

Faith Whittier, MD, joined Legacy in December of 2012. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, San Diego, and then went on to receive her Doctor of Medicine degree from Case Western Reserve University.

Dr. Whittier’s residency in obstetrics and gynecology was performed at St. Joseph Hospital here in Houston. She moved into private practice after that, but remained an Attending Physician at St. Joseph from 1999-2010. While there, Dr. Whittier was given the Outstanding Faculty Teaching Award. She also won first prize in the National Primary Manuscript competition for “Sleep Disorders in the Elderly Patient.” She has also been selected for the guide to America’s Top Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Dr. Whittier is a board certified Diplomat for the American Board of Obstetrics Gynecology and is a Fellow in the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Prior to joining Legacy, she was one of two Obstetricians who served a large underprivileged community in Orange, Texas. She greatly enjoyed this work, and looks forward to continuing that service with Legacy. Dr. Whittier enjoys traveling and spending time with her two sons in her free time.
