Medicaid Expansion

Texas decided years ago not to expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act. That means the state left virtually free money –$100 billion over 10 years—on the table. These funds would help provide insurance for low-income Texans, our core constituency. A number of major businesses, prominent Republicans, and 63% of Texans have spoken out for some sort of solution — whether it’s traditional Medicaid expansion or a market-driven approach. When people don’t get the medical care they need, or when they do they go to the costly emergency room, it’s financially crushing.
