Women's Health

Policymakers at every level have a critical role in preventing and treating the Zika virus. The most at-risk group are pregnant women, since the virus can cause severe birth defects. Legacy sees about 300 pregnant women a day, some of whom travel regularly to the Zika-affected areas in Latin America. In addition to our patient education efforts, Legacy has encouraged lawmakers to find a sense of urgency through a congressional letter and in multiple press stories including The Hill, Houston Chronicle and The Texas Tribune, to manage this looming public health situation.
