For people living with HIV/AIDS, Legacy offers a comprehensive program designed to improve overall health, prevent and manage medication side effects, manage weight gain/loss, and control pain.
We accept Medicaid, Medicare and many health insurance plans.
Most HIV-positive persons without health coverage qualify for free or reduced cost services with funding awarded to Legacy through the federal Ryan White CARE Act.
Rehabilitation program
Legacy’s comprehensive rehabilitation program is designed to help people living with HIV/AIDS to combat the effects of the disease, such as changes in body composition, changes in diet, and medication side effects. The program offers 8 weeks of exercise therapy supervised by a certified personal trainer in Legacy’s full gym. Our equipment includes cardio equipment (tread mill or stationary bicycle), universal and free weights, elastic resistance bands, exercise balls and more. This multi-week program integrates exercise and nutrition, as well as physical therapy, massage therapy, and where necessary.
This program is only available to people living with HIV/AIDS who are eligible for Ryan White services.
Nutritional counseling
Legacy's licensed and registered dietitians offer counseling and nutrition recommendations to help people living with HIV/AIDS maintain a healthy body. We help prevent and treat illnesses by promoting healthy eating habits and recommending changes to your diet. We educate you about nutritional facts, nutrients, allergies and weight loss/gain. We can help you improve your immune system, maintain an optimal weight, and avoid counteractions between the foods you eat and the medicines you take. During your nutritional counseling sessions, our dietitians will perform a thorough assessment and measure your body fat percentage. We then develop dietary recommendations to keep you at your healthiest.
