$50+ million Houston Methodist gift brings a 26,200-square-foot health care home—and 96 jobs—to a historic Houston neighborhood where one in four residents is uninsured

 

HOUSTON (September 22, 2026) – Legacy Community Health, Texas’ largest Federally Qualified Health Center, will celebrate the grand opening of the Legacy Acres Homes Clinic with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, October 2, 2026. Media are invited to attend, tour the new facility and interview Legacy and Houston Methodist leadership, clinicians, community leaders and patients about the clinic’s role in expanding coordinated care and improving access to health services in Acres Homes.

WHY IT MATTERS
  • Acres Homes is home to more than 54,000 residents, and nearly 26% are uninsured.
  • The clinic brings primary care, preventive services, adult medicine, pediatrics, OB/GYN, behavioral health, pharmacy and support services together under one roof, providing coordinated care closer to home and making health care easier to navigate for individuals and families.
  • It is expected to support 96 full-time positions, making it a long-term employer as well as a community resource.
  • It is the second of two facilities funded by Houston Methodist’s transformational gift of more than $50 million to Legacy, reflecting a shared commitment to expanding access to care across the Greater Houston region. The Legacy Pasadena Southmore Clinic celebrated its ribbon cutting in April 2026.
