HOUSTON, TX (August 24, 2026) – Legacy Community Health is proud to announce that Dr. Chad Lemaire, a psychiatrist specializing in integrated behavioral health, has been selected to receive the Psychiatric Excellence Award from the Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians (TSPP). The award is one of Texas’ highest professional honors for excellence in psychiatric care, leadership, education, and service to the mental health field. It recognizes psychiatrists who have made outstanding contributions to the profession and to the patients and communities they serve.

Throughout his career, Dr. Lemaire has worked to expand access to behavioral healthcare and advance the understanding of mental health issues across Texas and beyond. His work reflects Legacy Community Health’s commitment to whole-person care and its Health Beyond Care approach. As a leader in integrated behavioral health, Dr. Lemaire has helped strengthen connections between mental health and primary care, expanding access to coordinated services that support patient well-being.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Lemaire has served in numerous leadership, administrative, and advocacy roles throughout his career. A respected voice in psychiatry, he has championed efforts to reduce stigma surrounding mental illness, improve access to behavioral healthcare, and advance policies that support patients and providers alike.

“Dr. Lemaire’s impact on behavioral healthcare extends far beyond the patients he sees every day,” said Dr. Melanie Melville, Associate Chief of Clinical Services, Behavioral Health at Legacy Community Health. “He is a compassionate clinician, a thoughtful leader, and a tireless advocate who consistently works to strengthen mental health services and elevate psychiatry. This recognition is a testament to his unwavering dedication to improving the lives of others, and we are proud to celebrate this well-deserved honor.”

Dr. Lemaire is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, former president of the Houston Psychiatric Society, and has served as voluntary faculty for several local medical schools.  He has also served in leadership roles with the Network of Behavioral Health Providers and Doctors for Change.

Over the years, Dr. Lemaire has earned recognition not only for his clinical expertise but also for his passion for education and collaboration. Colleagues across the state regard him as a trusted leader who brings insight, integrity, and innovation to every aspect of his work. His career embodies the spirit of the Psychiatric Excellence Award and the values that continue to advance the practice of psychiatry in Texas.

Dr. Lemaire will receive the award at the TSPP Awards Banquet on November 7, 2026, at the JW Marriott Houston by the Galleria as part of the 2026 TSPP Annual Convention and Scientific Program. The annual event recognizes psychiatrists and mental health leaders whose work has advanced psychiatric care across Texas.
