Low‑Cost and Affordable Vaccines Available at Legacy Community Health

Year‑round access for children, adults, and families

HOUSTON, TX (April 13, 2026) – When it comes to protecting community health, prevention can’t wait for the right moment, and it can’t depend on the ability to pay. During World Immunization Week, April 24–30, 2026, Legacy Community Health is highlighting year‑round access to low‑cost and affordable vaccines , ensuring families throughout Houston and Southeast Texas can get protected when they need it, not just when it’s convenient.

Vaccines remain one of the most powerful tools for preventing serious illness and safeguarding people across the lifespan. At Legacy Community Health, immunizations reflect a broader promise of Health Beyond Care — lowering barriers, offering trusted guidance, and supporting healthier futures for individuals, families, and entire communities.

“Vaccines don’t just protect one person at a time — they strengthen the health of everyone around us,” said Dr. Rubina Khan, Medical Director of Pediatrics at Legacy Community Health. “That’s why Legacy is committed to making preventive care accessible and affordable, so no one falls through the cracks.”

Affordable Vaccine Options for All Ages

Legacy provides a full range of routine, school required, and seasonal vaccines for infants, children, adolescents, adults, and seniors, including flu, MMR, Tdap, HPV, hepatitis, and other recommended immunizations.

Low‑cost vaccines are available are available during well-child visits, wellness appointments, and immunization only visits for eligible patients through the following programs:

  • Vaccines for Children (VFC) for patients 18 and under who qualify.
  • Texas’ Adult Safety Net, which assists adults without health insurance in getting vaccinated.

Vaccines for patients with Insurance or Sliding‑Scale Fees

Fees vary based on eligibility, insurance coverage, and income. Legacy ensures vaccines remain accessible and affordable through insurance coverage and income‑based sliding‑scale options:

  • Patients with health insurance can receive vaccines at Legacy clinics, with most insurance plans accepted. Insured patients may also get vaccinated at Legacy Pharmacies — no appointment needed.
  • Patients without insurance may receive vaccines using Legacy’s sliding‑scale fee program, based on income.
  • Legacy’s Eligibility Department team works directly with patients to explain costs, determine eligibility, and help connect them to available assistance.

“No one is turned away because they can’t afford care,” Dr. Khan said. “That applies to preventive care just as much as it does to primary or specialty services.”

Protecting Kids, Supporting Families, Strengthening Communities

Vaccines play a critical role in keeping children healthy and in school, especially during back-to-school season and throughout the year. Legacy works closely with families to ensure children receive the right vaccines at the right time, offering education, personal consultations, and access to Texas’ ImmTrac2 immunization registry to help patients stay up to date safely and accurately.

Immunizations are provided at Legacy’s more than 60 clinics, including 39 School-Based Health Care clinics, making care easier to access for busy families. Many locations offer extended hours, and same day or next day appointments are often available.

“Prevention doesn’t happen in a single visit,” Dr. Khan said. “It’s about building trust, answering questions, and supporting families over time — and that’s exactly how we approach vaccines at Legacy.”

World Immunization Week — and Every Week

While World Immunization Week brings global attention to the importance of vaccines, Legacy Community Health emphasizes that protecting health through prevention is a year-round priority.

“Our doors are open every day,” Dr. Khan said. “Whether it’s World Immunization Week or any other week of the year, we’re here to connect our communities to health — every day, in every way.”
