What is the process to become a Legacy volunteer?

Complete an application and return via email at volunteer@legacycommunityhealth.org or mail to:

Legacy Community Health Services
P.O. Box 66308
Houston, TX 77266-6308

Our volunteer coordinator will call to schedule an interview at which you can talk about your interests, how much time you have and other specifics. A background check is then required for all volunteers. A TB test is required for those interested in volunteering at the clinical level. We hold orientation sessions for all new volunteers to provide information, answer questions, and welcome you to the Legacy family!

Why do you require a background check?

We take the well-being of our staff members, volunteers, and patients very seriously, so this process has been implemented to ensure a safe environment for all.

Why do you require a TB test?

TB tests ensure the safety of our patients as well as your own. You will be required to take a TB test only if you volunteer on the clinical side.

What are the age limits for being involved as a Legacy volunteer?

Volunteers at one of our campuses must be at least 18 years old. There may be a way to involve younger family members at some of our special events.

What are the advantages of being a Legacy volunteer?

To name just a few: You get to work with some of the most dedicated people in Houston. You will have a positive impact on the families we serve. You get an annual TB test and an awesome t-shirt. We could go on, but the bottom line is that you will help us build a healthy community and have a great time doing it.

How can I obtain a letter of recommendation or reference?

These may be written by the Manager of Volunteer Services for employment, education, or scholarship references upon completion of a minimum of 40 hours of service.
