Ramona Colas, BSN, MSN, CNM, joined Legacy Community Health Services in February of 2012. Through a partnership with East Houston Regional Hospital/HCA, she was part of the team that started the maternity practice at Legacy’s Lyons Avenue Clinic. She earned her Bachelor of Science, graduating cum laude, from Prairie View A&M University, and then went on to receive her graduate degree from UTMB-Galveston.
Prior to joining Legacy, Colas served as a Certified Nurse Midwife at Natural Women’s Care and at Cypress OBGYN with Drs. Oanh Bui and Enyioma Muolokwu. She has also worked at Baylor College of Medicine and UTMB. Colas has delivered over 1,000 healthy babies, including complicated births such as vaginal twins and vaginal breech presentations. She has been featured in Cy-Fair Magazine for her leadership in the field of women’s health.
Colas is a member of the American College of Nurse Midwives, and has received a Certificate of Appreciation from the UT Health Science Center at Houston School of Nursing for serving as a Nurse Practitioner Preceptor.
Colas enjoys playing the piano and reading in her spare time. She is the proud mother of two sons: Gerald, senior at Alfred University, NY, and Armand, a sophomore honor engineering student at UT-Austin.
