In an effort to continue to educate our community and promote healthy living the TriCounty Disproportionality and Disparities Committee will be hosting the
2nd Annual Pathways to Health Equity: LGBTQIA Celebration of Life Summit
in Beaumont on Wednesday, April 13, 2016.
Please make plans to attend this daylong event!
Information will be available on the history of gender and sexuality, health care services, mental health and other social disparities for the LBGTQIA, a gender and sexually diverse community. Agencies will be available to provide information and answer questions on how to access services. This FREE event is open to the public and other professionals. CEUs will be provided.
Guest speakers will include:
A transgender panel discussion moderated by Sandy Wilson, ACSW, LCSW with featured Clinical Psychologist Dr. Cate Carabelle, Psy. D., along with members and advocates of the transgender community Tony Smith, BSW and Kyndal Watkins, Police Dispatcher and Search and Rescue Diver.
Seth Stephens, DNP, APRN, ACNP-BC, CCRN – Mr. Stephens will be discussing the HIV preventative drug PrEP
Dr. B. Garrick Harden, Lamar University, Assistant Professor of Sociology – Dr. Harden will be discussing the social history of the LGBTQIA community
Sha’Terra Johnson-Fairley, LMSW, Houston Regiona HIV/AIDS Resource Group, Inc. – Ms. Johnson-Fairley will share statistics and information about how members of the LGBTQIA community are affected by HIV/AIDS
Kristy Blackwell, Registered Nurse, Triangle Area Network – Ms. Blackwell will discuss Hepatitis C
