Bringing home a newborn? Legacy’s pediatric care starts from the very beginning—and supports your whole family along the way. Here’s how to give your baby a healthy start:
- Schedule your baby’s first checkup within 2–3 days of hospital discharge.
- Track feedings and diapers to ensure proper hydration and nutrition.
- Set up a safe sleep environment—on their back, on a firm mattress, with no loose blankets or toys.
- Watch for signs of jaundice or dehydration.
- Don’t forget mom—postpartum support is just as important for her recovery and well-being.
Legacy respects postpartum traditions like la cuarentena, where new mothers are given time to rest and heal. Our care team honors these customs while providing modern support for emotional and physical recovery.
We also recognize that support in Latino households often comes from extended family—abuelitos, godparents, and close friends. That’s why we encourage family participation and offer bilingual education, so everyone involved feels informed, respected, and empowered.
Early screenings—such as hearing tests, metabolic checks, and heart screenings—can detect concerns before they become serious. And don’t forget: your baby’s first vaccines, including hepatitis B, begin right away.
Beyond the Basics: Complete Pediatric Support at Legacy
“Children need a checkup every two to three months until they are 12 months old,” said Dr. Solano. “Once they turn one, we recommend a checkup every three to six months until they’re four years old. After that, annual visits are ideal.”
At Legacy, pediatric care goes far beyond the standard office visit. We offer services designed to support every aspect of your child’s health and make care as convenient as possible for families:
- Same-day sick visits for when your child wakes up with a fever, cough, or other symptoms.
- Behavioral and mental health services to support kids dealing with anxiety, ADHD, or stress at school.
- School-based clinics that provide care right on campus—so students don’t miss class.
- Pediatric dental care available at select locations.
- Telehealth appointments for when coming to the clinic just isn’t an option.
Not sure if you need to schedule a visit? Some locations accept walk-ins, but a quick call can help you plan ahead and avoid long waits.
