“We take care of the three pillars of well-being: your emotional, physical, and financial health.”
These powerful words from Clara Rodriguez, Liaison Manager at School-Based Health Care, capture the heart of Legacy Community Health’s mission. Legacy is committed to making sure individuals and families across our communities can access compassionate, comprehensive, and affordable health care—no matter their background, age or ability to pay.
For Spanish-speaking families, language shouldn’t be a barrier either. That’s why many of Legacy’s staff are bilingual and ready to help you feel seen, heard and understood.
For Clara and the team at Legacy, health care is not just about treating symptoms—it’s about building trust and creating long-term wellness plans that empower patients to thrive at every stage of life.
A Place for the Whole Family
“At Legacy, we offer complete services for the entire family—babies, children, pregnant women, adults, and seniors,” Clara said. For many Latino families, health is a shared responsibility—caring for abuelitos, children, and everyone in between is a core part of Latino culture. Legacy’s whole-family approach reflects these values by offering care for every generation.
With more than 50 clinics across Houston, Baytown, Beaumont, and surrounding areas, Legacy ensures that no family is left without a medical home. From pediatrics to geriatrics, from general checkups to behavioral health support, Legacy covers every health care need—including vision, dental, pharmacy, and specialty care—often all under one roof.
“It’s important to establish a place for your ongoing medical care. Many of you already see how important it is to make sure your child has a doctor—but I want to remind you that you matter too,” she said.
Whether you’re expecting a baby, managing a chronic condition, or simply needing preventive care, Legacy invites everyone to take charge of their health—and offers the resources to do so.
And if you’re a mother or caregiver who tends to put others first, this is your reminder: your health matters just as much. You deserve care, too.
Convenient and Compassionate Pharmacy Support
Clara wants the community to know that “if someone needs regular medications—say once a month—we can even deliver them right to your door.”
Legacy’s in-house pharmacies make accessing medications easy and affordable. With delivery options and bilingual pharmacy staff, patients can refill prescriptions without the added stress of long waits or transportation challenges.
It’s just one more way Legacy removes barriers to care—so patients can focus on healing, not logistics.
Breaking the Stigma Around Mental Health
“In our community, there’s still a stigma around mental health. Sometimes, we don’t understand what it is or how it can help,” Clara said. In many Hispanic households, mental health isn’t always discussed openly—emotional struggles are often minimized or seen as private matters. By offering compassionate care in Spanish and making therapy more accessible, Legacy helps bridge that cultural gap.
Legacy is deeply committed to changing that narrative. At Legacy, mental health care is integrated and prioritized, with services available for individuals of all ages.
“If you notice that you or your child are acting differently than usual, it’s important to connect with a therapist. We’re here to help,” she recommended.
Whether it’s anxiety, depression, trauma, or simply navigating life’s changes, therapists and counselors are available to listen and support without judgment. Legacy believes that mental health is health—and every patient deserves the care they need to feel whole.
School-Based Clinics: Health Without Missing Class
Legacy’s school-based health clinics are a game-changer for students and their families. By placing clinics directly within schools—especially in districts like Galena Park ISD—students can get the care they need without missing a full day of learning.
“Legacy has 37 school-based clinics offering pediatric services for students up to age 21—right inside the schools and during school hours,” Clara explained. “Kids simply walk to the Legacy clinic on campus, get seen, and then return to class. The clinic also keeps parents informed every step of the way.”
These clinics provide accessible, efficient care with a personal touch—and they’re not just for students. Siblings and children of school staff can also benefit from the services.
Students who attend any KIPP, YES Prep, or Galena Park ISD school—and their siblings—can enroll and schedule appointments at the Legacy School-Based Health Clinic closest to them. That includes access to trusted mental health professionals, conveniently located on school campuses.
This means students don’t have to miss school, and their parents or caregivers don’t have to miss work just to attend an appointment. It’s convenient, compassionate care that fits into your family’s daily routine.
To contact the school clinic team directly, families can call 281-628-2050. A small, dedicated team is always ready to answer questions and help children get the care they need.
Affordable Care for All
“We have programs that offer discounts based on your income. These programs can help you with the cost of medical services—because we know finances shouldn’t be a barrier to health,” Clara remarked.
Legacy is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that has proudly served the Texas Gulf Coast since 1981. Committed to care without judgment or exception, Legacy ensures services are accessible regardless of insurance status or income level. Many patients qualify for sliding-scale fees or support programs that make care affordable and stress-free.
“This is one of the ways we help the community,” she said. “Health care should never be out of reach.”
Let’s Get You Started
Whether you’re looking for a pediatrician, need help managing your diabetes, or want to talk to someone about your mental health, Legacy Community Health is ready to welcome you.
“The most important thing is to call us. Set up an appointment, tell us what you need—whether it’s a dentist, prenatal care or general medical services,” Clara emphasized. “And remember, most of our staff is bilingual and happy to speak with you in Spanish.”
For Spanish-speaking patients, being able to communicate in your own language builds trust. It also means that parents, abuelos and caregivers can feel confident understanding their care and asking questions.
