October marks American Pharmacists Month, a time to celebrate the dedicated professionals who serve as pillars of our health care system.
At Legacy Community Health, we’re proud to recognize our exceptional pharmacy team, who work tirelessly to improve the lives of our patients and strengthen our communities.
More Than Just Medication Dispensing
Your Legacy pharmacist is much more than someone who just fills prescriptions. Our team provides comprehensive care through one-on-one counseling, medication therapy management for chronic conditions, and personalized health coaching. We help patients manage diabetes, hypertension, and respiratory conditions while offering immunizations, help to stop smoking, and medication reconciliation when you’re moving between care providers.
We make health care more convenient with prescription delivery, medication syncing, and we accept most insurance plans. For patients managing complex chronic conditions, our specialized pharmacy services provide the additional support you need to stay on track with your health goals.
- HIV Prevention and Treatment: We offer PrEP as daily pills or bimonthly injectables, plus monthly ART injections for undetectable viral load management.
- Diabetes Support: From diabetic supplies to glucometer training, we help you take control of your diabetes management.
- Convenient Services: Enjoy curbside pickup at our Montrose location through our mobile app.
The Legacy Community Health Difference
When you choose Legacy Pharmacy, you’re supporting community programs that treat and prevent HIV/AIDS, manage chronic conditions, and provide sexual wellness services. What truly sets us apart is our commitment: “The answer is always yes.” No matter your background or situation, we find a way to provide the care you need.
Our pharmacists work as health care providers who fill in the gaps between your doctor appointments, managing your medications and staying connected with your other providers. We create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can discuss any health concerns openly, including sensitive topics. Our approach is compassionate and respectful, removing barriers so you feel comfortable getting the care you need.
When insurance issues or affordability problems arise, our dedicated teams solve those problems within days, not weeks.
Did You Know?
Our pharmacists are trained to help with conditions affecting millions of Americans:
- More than 38 million people in the United States have diabetes, with over 97 million having prediabetes
- About one in two U.S. adults has high blood pressure
- More than 27 million people have asthma, including 4.5 million children
- Nearly 16 million people are diagnosed with COPD
At Legacy, our pharmacists use their expertise to help you manage these conditions and reach your health goals.
Your Neighborhood Immunization Partners
Our pharmacists are part of your “immunization neighborhood,” joining more than 500,000 immunization-trained pharmacy professionals nationwide. During the 2023-2024 respiratory season, pharmacists administered more than 74% of all vaccinations in the United States. Our teams can guide you through vaccine-preventable diseases and help determine which immunizations are appropriate for you and your loved ones.
Meet Our Dedicated Pharmacy Team
April Henson, PharmD – “We don’t really shy away from things that most people would find uncomfortable. We tackle issues head-on, helping people who truly need our help without fear or shame.”
Leon Yuan, PharmD – “We engage in open conversations about health because the moment we can’t talk about something, I can’t provide the right assessment or medicine. Patients feel so comfortable here, and that’s phenomenal.”
Kenicia Curry, PharmD, Clinical Pharmacy Specialist – “I love those ‘light bulb moments’ when a patient finally understands their medication or treatment plan. Often, patients tell me, ‘No one has ever explained this to me before.’ That’s why I became a pharmacist.”
Our pharmacists are committed to serving the Houston community, especially those who need health care most. We have team members who speak Spanish and understand the unique challenges of navigating health care in our diverse city.

A Message from Our Team
As Kenicia Curry reminds patients: “You are your best advocate. When you come into your pharmacy, we are the most accessible health care providers because you can just walk in and talk to a pharmacist. If there’s a medication you’re taking and you’re wondering why, ask. Always advocate for yourself.”
This American Pharmacists Month, we thank our pharmacy teams for their compassionate care and expertise. They make a difference in countless lives every day.
