New facility follows Pasadena Southmore Clinic and will open in 2025 as part of Houston Methodist partnership
Legacy Community Health is proud to announce the future opening of a new clinic in the Acres Homes neighborhood of Houston, which is expected to be completed in 2025. This new site is one of two clinics funded by a generous $51.5 million gift from Houston Methodist, alongside the Legacy Pasadena Southmore Clinic.
The Acres Homes clinic will provide comprehensive, affordable health care services to a historically underserved community with significant medical and wellness needs.
Like the Pasadena Southmore location, the new Acres Homes clinic will offer a full suite of services, including adult and pediatric primary care, OB/GYN care, behavioral health, dental services, pharmacy access, and wraparound support. The goal is simple yet powerful: bring high-quality, accessible health care closer to where it’s needed most.
Clinic Location and Timeline
The new Acres Homes clinic will be located at 3011 W. Gulf Bank Road, Houston 77008, right in the heart of the neighborhood.
This clinic will deliver health care options to the Acres Homes community and surrounding areas. Services will include adult medicine, pediatrics, OB/GYN services, behavioral health and a pharmacy. The Acres Homes clinic will also provide infusion services, bringing critically needed oncology care to the community. Designed by Kirksey Architects, the new two-story clinic will be 26,200 square feet and will be equipped with advanced technology.
Construction is currently underway, and the clinic is expected to open its doors in July, 2026.
Why Acres Homes? A Community in Need
Acres Homes is one of Houston’s historic neighborhoods, known for its deep cultural roots and resilient residents. However, it also faces some of the most pressing health disparities in the region. The need for greater health equity in Acres Homes is evident:
- Obesity affects 45.1% of adults in Acres Homes, compared to 33% in Harris County.
- Diabetes prevalence is also higher at 17.6%, compared to 13.7% in the county.
- 5% of adults report no leisure-time physical activity, and 21.2% are current smokers.
- Additionally, 35.7% of adults lack health insurance, and nearly one-quarter of residents live below the poverty line.

These disparities aren’t just numbers—they point to deep-rooted issues in the social and economic factors that shape health. A 2019 report from Houston Public Health highlights that things like education, income, neighborhood conditions, housing stability, and access to food and medical care play a big role in creating health inequities. People with lower income and education levels tend to face more stress, which can lead to higher rates of disease and disability.
Minority communities are hit hardest, facing even more obstacles to healthy living, like limited access to healthcare, education, and recreational spaces, plus greater exposure to environmental hazards like lead paint and pollution. As the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation puts it, “Your ZIP code is more important than your genetic code when it comes to predicting how long you will live.”
Building Healthier Communities: Legacy’s Commitment to Acres Homes
Legacy’s commitment to Acres Homes is addressing these core challenges and building a foundation for a healthier future.
Legacy’s long-standing relationship with Houston Methodist started in 1998. The hospital system has supported Legacy through such landmark programs as the Youth Re-entry Program, the Community Scholars Program, the Community Network of Care Program and Legacy Baytown’s Family Medicine Residency Program.
As the largest Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Texas, Legacy serves over 200,000 patients across more than 57 clinics. This new location in Acres Homes represents another step forward in building healthier communities, together.
“Legacy is proud to bring the highest level of quality health care to the Acres Homes community. This has been made possible by the visionary partnership and collaboration that we have developed over many years with Houston Methodist,” said Robert Palussek, Interim CEO and COO of Legacy Community Health. “We extend our deepest gratitude to Houston Methodist and their entire team, who share our commitment to making quality health care a reality for all Houstonians.”
