Legacy is here to ensure that the entire community has access to uninterrupted care and treatment after Hurricane Harvey, including people living with HIV.
“If you have lost your HIV meds in the flood, we’re here to help you,” said Legacy’s Dr. Natalie Vanek. “What’s vital is you stay in treatment, even during this difficult time. We’re open and here to help you.”
Legacy’s Montrose clinic at 1415 California Street is open from 8am-5pm and accepting patients on a walk-in basis.
Below we have compiled information from reputable sources relevant to the HIV community in Houston.
Medications
Walgreens, located in Legacy’s Montrose clinic, is open for medications. If you have lost your meds during Harvey, the Texas HIV Medication Program can help at 1-800-255-1090.
From the Texas Department of State Health Services: “The Texas HIV Medication Program (THMP) is currently unable to deliver to areas currently affected by Hurricane Harvey. [But] local areas are able to use Emergency Financial Assistance to replace medications that have been lost, damaged, or need to be refilled. Additionally, the Texas State Board of Pharmacies has authorized pharmacies to dispense up to a 30 day supply of medications due to the emergency situation.”
For those participating in the HIV Medication program who have evacuated, you can obtain medication in the area you are now located. THMP will change pharmacies and refill or replace medications for residents of the impacted areas.
