On Monday, top Texas Senate Republicans added additional pressure on Congress to find emergency funding for the Zika virus, 40 cases  are confirmed statewide.

Top Republicans wrote to the congressional delegation and the Obama Administration outlining the state’s needs for funding in light of unexpected flooding this past month.“Without federal assistance, Texas could face potentially devastating effects.”

The 100-day mark since the Obama Administration requested  $1.9 billion in funding to manage and prevent the spread of the virus has passed. The hope is Congress will pass an emergency fund before summer ends.
